Hodges University (formerly International College), is a private university in Naples, Florida. Founded in 1990 as International College, it was renamed Hodges University in 2007. The Fort Myers campus opened in 1992.

The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, bachelor's and master's degrees.

Academics

Hodges offers 11 associate degree programs, 16 bachelor's degree programs, nine master's degree programs and several certificate programs. The university also facilitates a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

Hodges University also operates centers and institutes that provide educational opportunities and services to the Southwest Florida community. These include the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning, Center for Nonprofit Excellence, Hispanic Institute, Identity Fraud Institute, Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center and Center for Diversity, Inclusion and Cultural Competency.

Since its 1990 inception, Hodges University has conferred more than 9,300 degrees.

Fisher School of Technology

Hodges' Fisher School of Technology (FSoT) offers students the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of programs, including information systems, digital design and graphics, and information and business analysis. Programs within the FSoT enable students to grow as a professional in preparation for a career in technology or design. Apart from the applied science programming, students receive hands-on training from instructors with real-world experience. Additionally, the curriculum within specific FSoT degree programs incorporate proper information students need to earn industry-recognized technology certifications, such as:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)

The curriculum for Hodges' digital design and graphics degree program is certified by the American Digital Design Association (ADDA), which means Hodges' digital design and graphics curriculum meets the standards set forth by the ADDA.

Johnson School of Business

From business administration and management to finance and accounting, Hodges' Johnson School of Business (JSOB) offers students the ability to receive the necessary training and skills to succeed in the workplace. Courses within the JSOB are designed to meet the needs of adult students, offering flexible delivery methods in 7.5 week mini-term formats. JSOB faculty also encourage students to participate and collaborate on various projects including case studies, which may often be published.

Workforce Now is a regional research initiative with lead researchers from Hodges University, Florida SouthWestern State College and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Nichols School of Professional Studies

Hodges' Nichols School of Professional Studies (NSOPS) offers a wide array of diversified programs, including paralegal and legal studies, applied psychology and clinical mental health counseling, criminal justice, interdisciplinary studies and a certificate program in eDiscovery/eLitigation. Students who enroll in any of the degree programs will strengthen critical thinking, effective communication and research skills, which are important educational outcomes to master in order to be competitive within today's workforce. All degree programs within the Nichols School of Professional Studies are offered on campus and online.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Accreditation

The Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) degree program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Graduates of this program are not only prepared to enter into professional counseling positions in mental health and substance abuse but are also eligible for candidacy for licensing as a mental health counselor in Florida.

Offered entirely online or in a blended, on-campus format, the CMHC program issues an annual report each year for stakeholders and interested individuals. From summer 2016-winter 2017, the CMHC celebrated its sixth anniversary. Since the program's beginning, 57 students have graduated from the program. In addition, CMHC alumni received an 85.7 percent NCMHCE licensure examination pass rate and 100 percent job placement rate for graduates actively seeking employment in 2016-17.

School of Health Sciences

The demand for qualified health care professionals is growing nationwide, and Hodges' School of Health Sciences provides aspiring health care professionals with high-quality undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs, including biomedical sciences, healthcare office administration, physical therapist assistant, health services administration and nursing. Additionally, the School of Health Sciences offers certificates in biology, chemistry and long term care administration, as well as CPR certification programs.

Physical Therapist Assistant Accreditation

The Associate in Science in physical therapist assistant (PTA) is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and is the only program within the area that can be completed in two years or less. The PTA program's rigorous curriculum prepares students for the national licensing board exam that is required to practice in physical therapy.

School of Liberal Studies

The School of Liberal Studies offers English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, a college preparatory course for advanced ESL studies and an Associate in Science in professional communication. The school also houses the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), which focuses on Writing Across the Disciplines, and offers required courses for many of Hodges' degree programs.

English as a Second Language

The English as a Second Language (ESL) is a certificate program designed to enhance a student's knowledge, training and job skills. The goal is to further a student's ability to communicate in English and pursue employment opportunities. Three 15-week courses per level focus on grammar, reading and writing, and listening and speaking. There are three levels (1-3) available. For students looking to further advance their English language skills, Hodges offers one 15-week noncredit, college preparatory English course, which is designed to provide instruction to individuals preparing to enter college or need to increase their knowledge of academic English for professional purposes.

Intensive English Program Bridge

Non-native speakers of English interested in receiving instruction in academic reading, writing and grammar may enroll in the Intensive English Program Bridge (IEP). This program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a college degree at Hodges.

Campuses

In addition to the Naples and Fort Myers campuses, Hodges offers courses online and in an accelerated 7.5 week format.

Library

Hodges University's Terry P. McMahan Library operates branches on both the Naples and Fort Myers campuses. Library services are available to university faculty, staff, students and alumni. The Library offers 24 study rooms (five on the Naples campus and 19 on the Fort Myers campus), which students may reserve for studying and/or group projects.

Since 2003, the Terry P. McMahan Library has participated in the Federal Depository Library Program as a congressionally designated selective depository for U.S. Government documents (electronic documents only). Hodges is one of two federal depository libraries in Southwest Florida.
