- A technical support scam where a fraudulent caller impersonates Microsoft or Windows technical support to remotely obtain control of desktop PCs,
- An e-mail chain letter claiming falsely that Microsoft will pay users an inflated sum to forward a supposed test message to all of their contacts,
- A Microsoft joke in which a bogus 1994 press release claims Microsoft has acquired the Roman Catholic Church.
